EPILOGUE (FINAL CHAPTER)THIS FAMILY CALLED MINE: COLOUR US UP
© Opeyemi Akintunde
As Inspired by the Living Word
They laughed.
They mocked.
They scoffed at us as “the dramatic sisters who thought they could pray their way into prosperity.” They took over everything.
Tobe and the rest said things like:
“Let’s see if speaking in tongues can build a house.”
“All that fire fire prayer, are you opening a bakery?”
“We have the inheritance now. Go and inherit your long fasting.”
We didn’t respond.
We just walked away…freed.
While they went into our father’s mansion and split his wealth with glee, we moved into purpose… and peace.
Ten years later, things had changed.
No, not overnight.
But like a house infested with termites, the decay showed slowly at first… then everything collapsed at once.
Adeori, my half brother who inherited the art gallery, began hearing voices. He was found one morning naked in front of the building, shouting that blood was chasing him. He now roams the streets, muttering about red eyes and graveyard babies.
Tobiloba, our second half-brother who took the family estate, suddenly lost everything to fire. The night before the fire, he had a dream of people standing over his bed saying:
“We’ve come to collect the rest.”
He has never recovered financially.
Or mentally.
My female step cousin, the one who said Pamilerin would “never rise,” lost her international business deal due to a scandal involving mysterious art pieces. One of the other paintings they had seen in my father’s house and had sold had blood spots appear on it that couldn’t be cleaned or explained. The partners pulled out. Her name now comes up on blacklist emails. No one does business with her anymore.
My Second step cousin, the nice one, also had his share of misfortune, because he still had a share of the fortune. He lost his marriage and became a drunk when depression took over. He has nothing to his name.
Tobe, the self-appointed heir to Clarke’s name and fame, found his own son dying in the exact same posture our sister’s child had died…screaming in sleep, eyes wide in terror.
They tried to consult spiritualists.
They returned to the herbalist our father once visited.
But it was too late.
The roots had been cursed.
The altar they inherited was never theirs to thrive on.
They had inherited a curse wrapped in cash.
A poison dressed in power.
As for us?
We weren’t billionaires.
But we had something they couldn’t buy:
Peace that passed understanding.
Pamilerin relocated and her online podcast platform exploded with subscribers. She now hosts monthly prayer nights for young women and men bound by family darkness.
Setemi’s fashion and hairstyling company exploded. She even bagged a partnership with a foundation that empowers women and children in underserved communities.
Morayo…redeemed and forgiven…travels with her story, preaching sexual purity and the power of spiritual deliverance. She’s now called “The Woman Who Rose from the Red Room.”
And I, Mololuwa?
I am blessed with two set of twins…Yes! I have 4 children. I had them in 5 years.
Also, I wrote a book.
It became a best-seller. You are reading the second edition.
Title? This Family Called Mine: Colour Us Up.
We didn’t inherit wealth.
We inherited healing.
We didn’t inherit anything from our Earthly father, instead we inherited much more from our Heavenly Father.
As God’s children, “adopted” into His family, we have been assured an inheritance from our Heavenly Father. “Now if we are children, then we are heirs…heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory” Romans 8:17. Today, we bask in the inheritance of our Father.
Our inheritance refers to the blessings, promises, and eternal life God provides to believers through faith in Jesus Christ. These blessings include being part of God’s family, sharing in Christ’s glory, and inheriting eternal life.
We have gained much more !
And the blood that once cried against us?
Now we speak the blood that speaks better things.
The blood of Jesus.
Our new covenant.
THE END. (Attached is a compilation of prayers you can pray in line with this story)
