“WHEN COMFORT BECOMES DANGEROUS”

Comfort is a good thing until it becomes a curse.

Many people pray fervently for breakthroughs: a better job, a healed body, a peaceful marriage, or financial elevation. But something strange often happens after the breakthrough comes, God is quietly replaced. The fervent worship becomes casual. The hunger for God fades into the background of busy schedules and soft pillows.

This is where danger begins.

Scripture reveals a sad pattern repeated through time: blessing leads to pride, and pride leads to downfall.
In 2 Kings 17:25, a group of foreigners were settled in the land of Israel. Though they occupied a land meant for God’s people, they made no effort to honor the God of the land. What followed was terrifying lions were released among them, killing many.

Even God’s chosen people, the Israelites, weren’t spared this consequence. After enjoying divine settlements, they turned to idols and wickedness. The result? Exile.

This truth remains unchanged: If God blesses you, He expects your worship.
Neglecting the One who settled you is like building a beautiful house without a roof, you’re inviting disaster.

So ask yourself:

• Am I still pursuing God as I did when I was in need?
• Have I become too comfortable to kneel in prayer or raise my voice in thanksgiving?

Let us not become settled strangers, people who live in God’s blessings but abandon the God who gave it.

1. Lord, help me to remain devoted to You, even in seasons of comfort and abundance.
2. Father, have mercy on me in any way I have forgotten the Source of my blessing.
3. Keep me humble and faithful so I do not attract judgment after elevation.
