“THE POWER OF ‘ONE MORE’”

It had been a long day.

Ademola, exhausted from job hunting and rejections, slumped into bed, questioning if his efforts were even worth it. “God, I’ve tried… maybe this isn’t for me,” he whispered.

But in that moment of surrender, a gentle nudge stirred his heart: “Just one more.”

Reluctantly, he opened his laptop and applied for one last job before shutting it down.

A week later, that one more application turned into a job offer. Not just any job but one that perfectly matched his skills, dreams, and heart’s desires.

One more.

It’s the whisper we often ignore. That still, small voice encouraging us to try again, forgive again, pray again, apply again, believe again.

We sometimes treat God’s promptings like emotional waves strong when fresh, but fading quickly. We forget that breakthroughs are often hidden behind obedience that looks foolish.

Jesus told Peter to cast his net again, even though Peter had fished all night and caught nothing. It didn’t make sense. But Peter obeyed, and the net-breaking harvest came.

God often works after our strength runs out; so we know it’s not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit.

That “one more” could be a prayer, a seed, a phone call, or an apology. Don’t underestimate small instructions.

Sometimes, the “one more” is about one more person—one more soul. Philip left revival to speak to one eunuch (Acts 8:26–40). That one encounter echoed into Ethiopia.

The “one more” might come after you’ve tried everything. That’s when it matters most. It’s a test of faith, not strength.

Obedience doesn’t always make sense but faith doesn’t need to. Trust is doing it even when your logic says stop.

Luke 5:4-6 (NIV) — _“When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, ‘Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.’ Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.’ When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.”

Galatians 6:9 (NLT) – So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

PRAYER BULLETS

  1. Lord, give me the strength and faith to say yes to “one more” time—even when I feel like giving up.
  2. Father, help me to recognize Your voice in my weariness and obey Your gentle nudges.
  3. Let my “one more” become the doorway to my testimony in Jesus’ name.
