“STILL IN THE FIRE”

“God, I thought I passed this test already.”

That was Shola’s cry when another wave of betrayal hit her. It felt like déjà vu. Different people, same wound. She had healed or at least she thought she had. But now it seemed the fire had been turned up again.

Sometimes we assume that surviving one fire means we’ve graduated from heat. But what if each fire is not punishment, but refinement?

The three Hebrew boys were thrown into a furnace, and it was heated seven times hotter. Not because they had sinned, but because they stood for truth. And even in that fire, Jesus showed up, so clearly that the king saw Him too.

Shola later realized that the fire hadn’t come to destroy her, it had come to reveal Christ in her. It was in the heat that her character was reshaped, her discernment sharpened, and her heart humbled.

God doesn’t waste flames. When you’re still in the fire, it’s not because He’s forgotten you. It’s because He’s forming you.

Sometimes the miracle isn’t in escaping the fire but in walking through it, untouched.

Isaiah 43:2 (NLT) — “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”

Daniel 3:25 (NIV) — “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

PRAYER BULLETS

1. Lord, help me not to curse the fire, but to trust Your hand within it.
2. Refine me until all that’s left is Your image in me.
3. Let Your presence be visible in my trials, so others see You even when I’m in the fire.
