Daniel used to be the first to arrive at church and the last to leave. Two years ago, his life revolved around God; fasting, praying, studying the Word, cleaning the sanctuary, organizing outreach events. His relationship with God was his heartbeat.

Then it happened.

In one of those quiet early mornings at the altar, he had a life-changing encounter. A divine visitation. A MAN clothed in radiant glory spoke into his destiny and declared: “You shall be a pillar of greatness in your generation, a light shining brighter than those before you.”

And indeed, Daniel’s life took a turn. Doors opened, fame came, wealth poured in. But so did distraction.

Today, Daniel is known nationwide; trending online, booked every weekend, constantly surrounded by cameras and people. But heaven weeps. The Daniel who once trembled at the Word now says he’s “outgrown” daily devotionals. He laughs when others fast. His Bible is collecting dust, and his once burning prayer altar is now cold and forgotten.

Sadly, Daniel’s story is not rare.

Jacob had a similar pattern. He had his first encounter with God at Bethel, a sacred, divine moment that marked the beginning of his transformation. But Jacob forgot. Many years later, in the middle of chaos caused by his sons’ actions, God had to call him back: “Return to Bethel.” (Genesis 35:1)

God had to remind Jacob of where it all began.

Even Jesus in all His glory and busy ministry would retreat into solitude after miracles to reconnect with the Father (Luke 5:15-16). He never forgot the wilderness experience that launched His assignment.

Dear reader, have you drifted? Is the fire that once consumed you for God now just a flicker? Have the blessings you once prayed for become the very things that pull you away from the Blesser?

Go back to your first love. Return to Bethel. Fan the flames again. Rebuild your altar. God is waiting.
