‘DON’T WALK AWAY’

Tola sat alone in the room where joy used to live. The silence was deafening, the emptiness haunting. She stared at the packed bag on the table, a symbol of departure, of something sacred slipping away.

Her heart pounded as she whispered through tears, “Please… don’t walk away. I need You. The last time You left, my world caved in. I was shattered. Used. Abandoned. Please… stay.”

But deep within, she knew why He was leaving.

“You keep choosing everything else but Me,” the Voice had gently said. “I’ve waited, loved you still… but your heart keeps drifting. You ignore My presence, My counsel, My warnings. What am I to you—just a feeling, or a Friend?”

Sound familiar?

You gave your life to Christ, experienced the warmth of His presence. Your days were filled with revelations, worship was real, your dreams alive. You were glowing with grace. But then… it dimmed.

It wasn’t sudden. Slowly, the distractions crept in. Sin snuck in dressed as pleasure. Compromise knocked, and you answered. You ignored the nudges. You stopped listening. You hurt the One who loved you most.

In Genesis 18:22, two men walked away, but One stayed back with Abraham. That “One” was the LORD. And because He stayed, secrets were shared—plans revealed. Abraham was able to intercede and rewrite destinies.

In the New Testament, we’ve been gifted the Holy Spirit—our Comforter, Counselor, and Companion. He doesn’t come to visit; He comes to dwell. But like any true Friend, He won’t stay where He’s constantly grieved, ignored, or dishonored.

So ask yourself, Have I made the Holy Spirit a visitor or a resident?

If lately your life feels dark, empty, dry, it’s not because God changed. He may have walked away not in abandonment, but in sorrow. But the good news? He’s only a whisper away. You can call Him back.

Say this from your heart:

“Holy Spirit, if I’ve pushed You away, if I’ve grieved You by my ways, please have mercy. I need You. Return and dwell in me. I don’t want a visitation; I want You to stay. Reveal what I need to know. Light up my path again… In Jesus’ Name.”

The Holy Spirit is not an experience. He’s a Person. And He longs to stay, if you’ll let Him.

📖 “Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the LORD.” – Genesis 18:22

  1. Precious Holy Spirit I need you, please don’t go. You are all I have got. Forgive all my foolishness.

  2. Sweet Holy Spirit, you’re not a visitor in my life, You’re not just a resident, you’re my life. May I not grieve or provoke you to leaving in Jesus Name. Amen.
