“DON’T LOSE YOUR OIL!”

Tolu sat at the edge of his bed staring blankly at his phone screen.
News headlines were wild; chaos in cities, natural disasters, strange global policies…
But none of that mattered more than what he had just realized.

He had stopped praying.
Stopped watching.
Stopped staying ready.

Just six months ago, he was on fire; attending vigils, fasting, evangelizing. But then, distractions came cloaked as opportunities. He got a promotion. His weekends became full. His mornings, too rushed. His nights, too exhausted. Slowly, his lamp ran out of oil.

And now, the world felt strangely different.

He remembered the parable his mum used to read to him as a child, the ten virgins. “Five wise, five foolish. All were invited. But only the ones who stayed ready went in.”

With trembling hands, he whispered, “Lord, refill my oil… Don’t let me be left behind.”

Waiting for Jesus is not a passive activity.
It’s not about wearing long skirts or memorizing church creeds.
It’s about having your lamp trimmed and burning daily.
It’s about not letting the delay drain your faith.

Yes, life gets tiring. Yes, the wait seems long.
But don’t throw away your oil.

Don’t lose your intimacy with God.
Don’t trade it for comfort, applause, or survival.
He is coming and only those ready will go with Him.

SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE
At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’… But the wise ones… had oil in their jars with their lamps.”Matthew 25:6-10 (NIV)

The foolish didn’t commit sin, they just ran out of preparation.
Don’t be caught unaware.
