‘CARRYING THE WEIGHT’

As Inspired by The LIVING WORD
Jide was the definition of brilliance. A first-class engineering graduate with international offers pouring in like rain, everyone expected his life to take flight immediately after NYSC.
But strangely, ten years after, Jide was still in Nigeria, unemployed, and living with his widowed mother in their modest bungalow in Ibadan.
People whispered, “Something must be wrong spiritually. How can a man that smart be this stuck?”
Jide’s response was always calm:
“God asked me to carry this weight. I don’t fully understand it yet, but He told me it’s not forever.”
His pastor once asked, “Are you sure it was God who said that?”
Jide simply smiled, “Pastor, it’s not pleasant, but I trust His voice.”
For a decade, he volunteered to teach underprivileged students in rural areas. He trained many for free, using his own worn-out laptop and borrowed whiteboards. One of his students won a global robotics competition and was flown to the U.S., the same country Jide once dreamt of going to.
But Jide didn’t flinch.
Then it happened.
A prominent tech philanthropist who had watched his selfless work from afar gifted him a full innovation lab and set him up as Director of a nationwide STEM education program. Within months, Jide became the voice of rural tech education in Nigeria. He was invited to the U.N. to speak on sustainable education in Africa.
That day, as he stood before global leaders, he whispered under his breath:
“So this was the weight. This was what I carried all these years.”
Friend, the pain you carry may not be punishment, it may be purpose.
You may be carrying a Yoke so God can birth a message, a ministry, or a movement through you.
Don’t misinterpret your delay, hardship, or trial. You’re being shaped, stretched, and seasoned to become a vessel of divine impact.
Jesus carried the Cross not for shame, but for glory. Jeremiah bore the yoke as a living sermon. You too may be a walking message God is preparing to send into the world.
Hold on. This yoke won’t last forever. But the message it births will outlive you.
Bible Reference: Jeremiah 27
Prayer Point:
Lord, give me the strength to carry the weight You’ve allowed me bear, and the grace to fulfill the message You want to speak through my life.
