‘WHEN JESUS CALLED MY NAME’
A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Tolu sat in his car, frustrated. He had applied for jobs for almost two years without success. That morning, he had whispered another half-hearted prayer before rushing out, “Lord, please just do something.”
But as he waited in traffic, his phone buzzed. A friend had sent him a link to join an online Bible study. He sighed, “This isn’t what I need right now. I need a job, not another sermon.”
Yet something nudged him to click. And as the preacher read aloud; “Behold, I stand at the door and knock…” Tolu felt as if God Himself had called his name.
In that moment, he realized: the job, the breakthrough, the peace, none of it could come if Jesus remained outside his heart. The true miracle wasn’t employment, it was inviting the Miracle Worker in.
That evening, still in his car, Tolu prayed for real this time:
“Jesus, I open the door. Come in.”
It wasn’t long before opportunities began to open too.
======
Many of us are like Tolu—knocking on every door of opportunity, while ignoring the One who is knocking at the door of our hearts.
We pray for visas, spouses, money, healing, peace… but forget that all these flow from the presence of Jesus Himself.
The real question is: Have you opened the door to Him?
Don’t keep Him waiting outside. Don’t half-open the door. Throw it wide open. When Jesus enters, He doesn’t just bring what you want. He becomes all you will ever need.
KEY SCRIPTURE:
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” – Revelation 3:20
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, forgive me for keeping You outside while I chased after lesser things. Today, I open the door of my heart to You. Come in, live in me, and reign as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
