Professor Akin dropped to his knees, tears flowing freely. Age had weakened his body, but what broke him was not physical pain, it was realization.

“Lord Jesus… I have shut You out for too long. I open the door of my life… please come in and fix everything I have broken.”

The next morning, he made an unusual announcement.
“Everyone should be home for dinner tonight. We have a guest.”

That evening, the table was full children, in-laws, grandchildren. Laughter filled the room, but curiosity lingered. One seat remained empty.

“Dad, where is your guest?” Tunde asked.

“He is here,” the Professor replied calmly.

Confusion spread across their faces.

“Is he late?”
“Did he step out?”

“No,” the Professor said, pointing gently to the empty seat. “He is right here with us.”

Silence. Then whispers.

“Is Grandpa okay?”
“What is he talking about?”

Then Amara, the youngest daughter-in-law, spoke softly,
“Are you talking about Jesus?”

All eyes turned.

She continued, “My parents used to set a place for Him at the table. They believed that if you invite Him into your life, He becomes part of everything including your home.”

The room grew tense.

“Dad, please don’t tell me you believe this now,” one of the sons said.

The Professor sighed deeply.
“I believed a lie for many years that God doesn’t exist, that we can figure life out on our own. But I have seen the emptiness that comes with that belief.”

He looked at each of them, one after the other.

“Success without peace…
Wealth without joy…
Relationships without love…

That is not the life I wanted for you.”

His voice trembled.

“I taught you to depend only on yourselves. I planted doubt in your hearts. And now, as I try to show you truth, I hear my own words coming back to me.”

Tears rolled down his cheeks.

“My children… I may not have many years left. But if there is one thing I must do, it is this, I must point you back to God. Because without Him, everything else eventually falls apart.”

No one spoke.

For the first time in a long time, the room was quiet not with confusion, but with conviction.

The empty chair no longer felt empty.
It felt… invited.

When truth returns, it often confronts the lies we once accepted.
And sometimes, the hardest place to correct is the place we once influenced.

But it is never too late to open the door.
Jesus still stands and knocks waiting to be invited into our lives, our homes, and our hearts.

Revelation 3:20 – “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me.”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, I open the door of my life—come in and take Your place.
Father, uproot every lie I have believed and replace it with Your truth.
Lord, restore my family and let Your presence dwell in our home.
