WHAT YOU DON’T TRACK, YOU LOSE

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Amaka was excited when she started her small shop. With little capital and a big heart, she welcomed every customer with a smile. In no time, people loved buying from her.

“Go to Amaka’s shop,” they would say, “she’s kind and generous.”

And truly, she was.

But at the end of the year, something didn’t add up.
Her shelves had emptied and refilled many times…
Customers had come in large numbers…
Yet her savings told a different story.

There was almost nothing to show for all her effort.

Confused and heartbroken, Amaka went to God in prayer.
“Lord, You led me into this. Why does it feel like I’m working and not seeing results?”

In her quiet time, she felt led to read a passage she had often skipped, a chapter filled with names and numbers. It didn’t make sense at first.

Days passed, and she kept reading… until she finally asked,
“Lord, what am I missing?”

And gently, the answer came:
“I am a God of records.”

Her heart paused.

“I instructed Moses to count.
I wanted My people to be accounted for.
Nothing was left to guesswork.

When you don’t track, you assume.
When you assume, you lose.”

That day, Amaka understood.

She began to write everything down sales, expenses, even the little extras she gave out of kindness.

After one month, the truth stared back at her.
She was making profit… but she was also giving away more than she earned.

Her generosity was beautiful but it was unstructured.

With wisdom, she made a simple adjustment. She created a small, controlled way to give, instead of giving randomly.

Slowly, things changed.
Her business grew.
Her savings increased.
And her generosity became sustainable.

God is intentional and He expects us to be the same.

Record keeping is not just a business principle; it is a life principle.
If you don’t track your growth, your habits, your finances, or even your spiritual journey, you may lose what God is trying to build in you.

Keep records of what God tells you.
Keep records of how He helps you.
Because sometimes, the answer you’re praying for today
is hidden in what He already showed you yesterday.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
Habakkuk 2:2 – “Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, teach me to be intentional and disciplined in every area of my life.
Father, help me to keep records of Your instructions and my daily growth.
Lord, give me wisdom to manage what You have placed in my hands.
