WHEN GOD STEPS INTO THE BATTLE

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

As Inspired by the LIVING WORD

Mr. Ade was a hardworking businessman whose small store had grown steadily over the years. He was known in his church as a faithful and devoted man, someone who honored God with his giving and lived a life of integrity.

But lately, something strange was happening in the business. Money was disappearing. Goods were missing from the shelves. The accounts no longer balanced.

After weeks of quiet observation, the painful truth emerged.

The one responsible was his own son, Daniel.

Mr. Ade had caught him more than once, yet Daniel always denied it. Normally, Mr. Ade had a strict rule: any staff caught stealing was handed over to the authorities immediately. But this time it was different. This was his son.

So he kept quiet, hoping Daniel would change.

But heaven was watching.

God saw the devourer in the business of a man who faithfully honored Him. And God had promised in His Word that He would rebuke the devourer for the sake of those who obey Him.

One night, Daniel stole again, planning to spend the evening partying with friends. On their way, the group was ambushed by kidnappers and taken deep into the forest.

For twenty-one days, Daniel lived in fear, hunger, and regret. In that lonely jungle, away from comfort and careless friends, he finally began to understand the value of his father’s sweat and sacrifice.

When government security forces eventually rescued the victims, Daniel returned home a different person. He walked away from the friends who had led him astray and began helping his father rebuild the business he had once been destroying.

Sometimes God fights battles we cannot fight ourselves.

This reminds us of the story of Absalom and King David. Absalom rose against his own father and tried to take the throne. David loved his son deeply and even pleaded with his soldiers to treat him gently.

But God Himself defended David.

Absalom eventually became trapped in the branches of a tree during battle, leaving him vulnerable to the very judgment he had stirred up.

Even when David did not want to fight his son, heaven fought on his behalf.

There are moments in life when people rise against you—even those close to you. Sometimes you may choose mercy, patience, or silence.

But when you belong to God, you are never truly defenseless.

The Lord watches over His own. And when the time comes, He steps into the battle.

Our prayer is that those who oppose us will repent before judgment comes. But those who stubbornly persist in destruction cannot escape the justice of God.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
2 Samuel 18:9 –
“And Absalom rode upon a mule… and he was taken up between heaven and earth; and the mule that was under him went away.”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, arise and defend me in every battle I cannot fight myself.

Father, have mercy on those who rise against me and lead them to repentance.

Lord, rebuke every devourer working against the blessings You have given me.
