CHAPTER 19 “CORDELIA”

The hall still roared from the last prophecy when the Iben Twin suddenly stiffened. His glazed eyes darted across the congregation as though a hidden hand was directing him.
Then his voice rang out again:
“Saint Oluchi!”
The entire chapel fell silent.
Oluchi froze where she sat, her lips trembling.
“And you…yes, you who plotted to flee this holy ground. You and the others…” His finger swept across the back rows. “Come out!”
A gasp rippled through the saints. Heads turned, whispers fluttered.
Then his eyes locked like a sword on another figure.
“MS Laura… accomplice. Enemy in disguise.”
The room erupted in shock. Saints pointed. Some pulled away from her as if her very robe carried plague.
Father Soji raised his hand and silence dropped like a curtain.
The Twin’s voice dropped low..
“For such as these, there is only one end. Let them be cast into the lake of fire!” Father decreed
A shudder ran through me. The entire hall went deathly quiet.
I watched in horror how they were paraded out of the hall.
And then… Few minutes later while everything was still on mute and standstill…I heard it…
Screams.
Bone-chilling, blood-freezing screams echoed from somewhere beyond the walls. It was as though an unseen door had been opened to hell itself.
One voice pierced sharper than the rest.
MS Laura.
I knew that voice. I had heard it give orders and bark commands. Now it tore through the night like a soul being dragged into torment.
I buried my face in my palms, shaking.
That was enough for me. Enough signal. Enough warning.
But I needed to confirm if what I was thinking was the best thing to do… I needed to search the room for clues in their faces ..
When I lifted my head, my eyes met the boy…the pity-eyed boy who had always watched me in silence. Tonight, his face was solemn. He gave a small, firm nod. A message without words: Agree. Obey. Survive.
Slowly, I turned. My gaze landed on Cordelia.
Her eyes pleaded with me…eyes full of fire, fear, and desperation. The unspoken cry was clear: Say yes… or you’ll be next.
I trembled from head to toe. My lips felt glued shut. My heart hammered against my ribs.
But then, with a voice that expressed my fear… I whispered the words I dreaded most:
“I… I am not struggling anymore.”
The saints leaned forward, holding their breath.
“I accept… to be the Eve of the Kingdom.”
The hall exploded in wild chants. “Kairos! Eve of the Kingdom! Eve of the Kingdom!”
And as the voices rose, I felt something sink deep inside me…like chains tightening around my soul….Hot tears dropped from my eyes…
I was going against destiny…I Knew it, but Fear they say paralysizes a man and can make you forget your truth…
I didn’t want to go to Kairos’ Lake of Fire.

Life is full of mystery. Satan is all out to cage people by all means. Imagine the numerous numbers of religions out there and yet Christianity (that happened to be the true religion to the true God), Satan successful create enough space for himself.
May God not allowed us to walk into satan trap. And as many that are trapped, may God in His mercy delivers them.

Hum! Reading through I remembered in the ‘Den’ the so called Kairos, Soji told Mabel that TJ might want to take her place or so. Well with what I’m seeing which I’m still in doubt, If TJ was an agent. Well I might be wrong.
Lastly Ma this novel/ Iriri aye might be like Lot and his family in Sodom and Gomorrah but I know God would save Mabel or use her for His glory like Jonah. Eku Ise Oluwa Ma
Are they actually doing stage play to force Mabel lose her faith and accept to be the 2nd Eve for the 3rd Adam????. God, let your mercy prevail in the life of Mabel. Help her not to fall by the wayside but fulfill your designated assignment.
