“NO REGRETS ON THE ROAD TO PURPOSE”

Tolu sat on the edge of his small mattress, staring blankly at the ceiling as the early morning sun crept through the window. In his hands was a folder containing his credentials, a folder that had seen too many offices and heard too many “we’ll get back to you” replies.
He sighed deeply. “Wouldn’t it have been better if I had just started a small mechanic shop back home? At least I would be earning something by now,” he mumbled. “Maybe I shouldn’t have bothered with school, or all this striving for a better life. Maybe I should have stayed where things were predictable.”
These thoughts sound familiar, don’t they? When life gets hard and the road ahead looks blurry, the temptation to romanticize the past becomes strong.
Like the Israelites who, after experiencing the miraculous deliverance from Egypt, suddenly wished they were back in slavery because of a temporary challenge.
Like believers who, in the face of hardship, wonder:
“Maybe I shouldn’t have taken this righteous path, I had more comfort in sin.”
“Maybe I should’ve married that unbeliever after all I’m still single and lonely.”
“Maybe obedience is overrated, it hasn’t yet paid off.”
But here’s the truth: God never leads you out without a plan to lead you in. Just because the journey feels hard doesn’t mean the decision was wrong. Your process is not a punishment, it’s a preparation.
God sees what you can’t. He understands the end from the beginning. If He led you to leave Egypt, it’s because He’s taking you to Canaan.
So, friend, pause. Breathe. And trust. You are not alone in this wilderness. You are on a journey, and God walks with you.
Jeremiah 29:11 — “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Genesis 14:13 — “And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew…”
Prayer Points:
Lord, thank You for leading me out of my old life — give me the grace to stay the course in faith.
I silence every voice of regret and discouragement speaking against my destiny, in the name of Jesus.
Father, open my eyes to see Your hand in my journey, even in the dry and difficult seasons.
Every spirit of delay and hopelessness attacking my forward movement — be destroyed by fire, in Jesus’ name.
I declare: My past will not hold me back. My today is a seed, and my future will be glorious!
