I stood there, frozen. Wasiu lay on the ground, eyes wide open…staring into nothing. I couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe. Deji bent down, gently closing Wasiu’s eyes like he was tucking him in for sleep. But this wasn’t sleep. This was death, raw and real.

Deji grabbed Wasiu’s phone, called his wife.

“Madam… it’s Mr Deji… you need to come to the house” He said .

I barely heard him. My mind felt far away, drowning in a sea of shock. I heard him say something about informing the Police…My hands… they started to shake. Then my phone rang.

Setemi.

Relief? Maybe. But when I answered, all I heard was wailing.

“Setemi? Setemi! Talk to me! What’s going on?”

But she couldn’t speak…only loud, heart-wrenching sobs that pierced my ear.
I cut the call. My fingers fumbled as I dialed Pamilerin.

She picked.
But her voice broke me.
“Molu… Molu… she’s gone.”

“Who’s gone? Pamilerin, who?!” I asked in what felt like a whisper.

“Fola…” She choked. “Setemi’s daughter… she screamed in her sleep, Mololuwa… and when they got to her room… she was gone.”

The words hit me like a slap. I gasped, my knees gave way, and I sank to the floor. Cold cement beneath me. I sat there, staring at nothing, my whole body trembling.

Deji didn’t even notice at first. He was still caught up, talking to someone else. But when he turned and saw me sitting there, legs folded beneath me, shaking… he rushed over.

“Molu! What happened? Talk to me!”

I tried to answer.

I honestly tried.

But my lips couldn’t form the words. They stumbled out in broken pieces.

Then it hit me…Morayo. I had to check on her too, there had been two mysterious deaths in one night…

I grabbed my phone with trembling hands and dialed her number.

The line connected.

But the voice that answered wasn’t hers.

“The woman wey get this phone…she be killer. Police carried her away. If you be her family, go Anthony Police Station.”

Murder ? How come?

” Wetin happen? ” I asked

“Na she and Her Customer fight for inside her room”
( She and her client fought). I wondered why Morayo still got a client for the night even after getting her paintings.

My phone slipped from my hand. My heart stopped. The world tilted.
Deji’s voice felt far away as I blacked out into darkness.

“What really is the problem with My Sisters and I?” I couldn’t help but ask as I fell further in the darkness…
