“THE DANGER OF FAMILIARITY”

As Inspired by THE LIVING WORD

Martha had seen Jesus many times. He had eaten at their table, laughed with her siblings, and shared deep truths. But when Lazarus died and Jesus came late, her response was sharp: “If you had been here, my brother wouldn’t have died.”

She believed, yes, but familiarity had dulled her reverence.

It’s easy to become too casual with the sacred. The more we see, the more we hear, the more tempted we are to reduce the supernatural to common.

We begin to treat the Word like advice, not instruction. We approach God like a buddy, not a King. We engage with worship as routine, not reverence.

Familiarity can breed dishonor. And dishonor shuts the door to the miraculous.

Jesus did few miracles in His hometown. Why? They saw Him too much. They thought they knew Him too well.

Don’t let repeated exposure rob you of holy awe.

Ask God today: Renew my wonder. Rekindle my reverence.

PRAYER BULLETS

  1. Lord, forgive me for every way I’ve made the holy common.
  2. Restore my reverence for Your presence and Your Word.
  3. May I never become too familiar to honor You.
